Testimonials

John Tucker’s PerformingtheClassics program channels the archetypes of our culture and facilitates communion with chanted stories in a way that strictly reading the classics cannot. Through this work, which you must see in person, the four walls of the performance space drop away, and we fall into the classic stories and poems that have provided a framework for the intellectual and moral fabric of our history, our lives. To attend one of John’s PerformingtheClassics events is to feel yourself extended into that threshold space, the shared space of the imagination, which our ancestors knew when they sat around night fires and listened to the teller explain who we were, who we are, and who we must be if we are to live well.

- Dr. Michael Saye, Poet and Ph.D. in English

John Tucker's one-man show is a mesmerizing and captivating experience that shouldn't be missed. Tucker's PerformingtheClassics is not merely about stage presence; the performances promote critical thinking, self-expression, and empathy, which are vital life skills, all while exploring diverse perspectives and deepening students' understanding of the human experience.
